BHIM UCO UPI is the official Unified Payments Interface application launched by UCO Bank, a commercial bank under the Government of India. The app enables customers to handle various banking transactions seamlessly using a Virtual Payment Address (VPA), which is unique to each user.
To get started, users can download and install the BHIM UCO UPI app on their mobile devices. During registration, the app communicates securely with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in an encrypted format. Users need to create a VPA and complete their profile setup. They can then link their UPI-enabled bank accounts using the mobile number registered with their bank.
Account verification is done via debit card details and OTP-based MPIN setup. Once verified, users can send or receive money, check their account balance, and use multiple payment methods such as:
- P2P (Peer to Peer using MMID and mobile number)
- P2A (Peer to Account using IFSC and account number)
- P2U (Aadhaar-based payments)
- VPA (Virtual Payment Address)
Users can also initiate collect requests, which recipients can approve or reject via the Collect Authorization feature. The transaction history section provides details of all payments and collection requests. Additionally, users can add beneficiaries from other banks for quicker future transactions.
UPI supports both payer-initiated and payee-initiated payments. In most cases, payment requests are routed through the NPCI switch to the payer for approval. UPI is built on the IMPS platform, enabling instant online money transfers with enhanced security and ease of use, even on mobile devices.
As part of its digital banking initiative, UCO Bank has also introduced QR code functionality for BHIM UCO UPI, enabling quick fund transfers and serving as a modern alternative to traditional Point of Sale (PoS) systems.
