Universe2go is an interactive audio-visual sky guide application available in English, with additional Italian support. The app features English audio files and adjusts its graphical interface to English, Spanish, or Italian based on your smartphone’s language settings. For other languages like German, French, and Spanish, separate versions are offered.
The app operates in two main modes: Starmap Mode, which allows basic functionality without additional accessories, and Planetarium Mode. The latter requires Universe2go Astro-Glasses to deliver a full augmented reality (AR) experience, overlaying digital information onto the real night sky as you view it through your device.
Using your smartphone’s sensors, Universe2go identifies stars and constellations accurately, presenting details about what you’re observing in real time. It stands out from other astronomy apps with its specialized algorithm for high reliability, true-to-sky size constellation displays, and features like automatic zoom for planets, nebulae, galaxies, and satellites—many enhanced with 3D visuals.
Universe2go offers multiple exploration modes: - Discovery Mode: Explore all 88 constellations with visual guides and audio descriptions. - Mythology Mode: Listen to engaging stories from ancient Greek myths linked to the constellations. - Deep-Sky Mode: View high-quality images, including Hubble Space Telescope captures, of celestial objects, often in 3D. - Quiz Mode: Test your knowledge by identifying constellations and objects.
The app includes over 3 hours of audio content and hundreds of images, drawing from the Hipparcos (120,000 stars) and NGC (7,000 objects) catalogs. To use Planetarium Mode, Universe2go Astro-Glasses are required. Compatible Android devices can be checked on the official website.
