EclipseDroid USB Light is the ultimate tool for dedicated solar eclipse watchers and astronomy enthusiasts. It provides precise, location-based data for any solar eclipse, letting you fully immerse in the experience without constantly checking your equipment. The app handles timing, announcements, and even triggers external cameras via USB—so you can focus on the sky, not your screen.

New in Version 8, you can now search eclipses specific to your location and enjoy Portuguese language support. From Version 5 onward, EclipseDroid includes a specialized EFlight mode for airborne eclipse observation and uses a background service to ensure timing tasks aren’t interrupted.

Key features include customized acoustic alerts for eclipse contacts, countdown timers, scriptable event triggers, and support for USB-connected cameras (requires USB host capability and an OTG cable). The app also offers an augmented reality overlay in the full version, helping you preview the Sun’s path and avoid obstructions like buildings or trees.

EclipseDroid offers multiple layout options: a smart layout with animations and local circumstances, or a classic view with countdowns and event lists. You can save eclipses directly to your calendar and, in the Pro version, access extended eclipse databases, NASA maps, and more.

Note that the app requires enabling USB Debugging in Android Developer Settings for full USB functionality. It does not support lunar eclipses.
